Evaluated case by case

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy for chronic non-healing wounds

Some wounds stall despite good care: arterial insufficiency ulcers, pressure injuries and other wounds where poor oxygen supply slows healing. Our providers evaluate each wound to decide whether hyperbaric oxygen, advanced wound care or both are the right approach.

Am I a candidate?

We evaluate other chronic wounds case by case. Hyperbaric oxygen is most often considered when:

  • The wound has not improved after several weeks of standard wound care.
  • Testing suggests low oxygen levels in the tissue around the wound.
  • Underlying problems such as blood flow, infection and pressure have been addressed or are being treated.

Even when hyperbaric oxygen is not the right fit, our providers can recommend a wound-care plan and coordinate with your physicians.

What treatment involves

90 minat pressure, ~2 hours total

Resting in a clear chamber, breathing 100% oxygen; plan on about two hours per visit.

5 daysper week

Consecutive weekdays at the location closest to you.

Variesby case

Your provider sets the plan after your evaluation.

Hyperbaric oxygen works alongside, not instead of, standard wound care such as debridement, dressings and pressure relief.

The evidence

Coverage for wounds outside Medicare’s listed indications depends on your plan. We verify benefits before any treatment starts.

Questions patients ask about chronic non-healing wounds

How do I know if my wound qualifies?

Request an evaluation. We review your wound history and your other physicians’ notes, and tell you plainly whether hyperbaric oxygen is likely to help.

Will my insurance cover it?

It depends on the type of wound and your plan. We verify benefits before you start and tell you in writing what to expect.
